Investment Strategy

The Fund's investment strategy focuses on early-stage companies in the one-to-one marketing, or Customer Relationship Management ("CRM") area. One-to-one marketing leverages interactive and database technologies to collect information about customers and thus increase interaction, service, sales, and profits.

The thematic focus of the Fund allows it to leverage the expertise of its management team in the areas of customer relationship management sales and marketing, growing small businesses. The focus is broad enough to allow the Fund's managers to opportunistically take advantage of investment opportunities that are not necessarily directly related to CRM. Specifically, the Fund pursues three types of investments:

  • Toolmakers who create software that delivers or augments One-to-one solutions or creates a One-to-one business environment or system;
  • Enablers of CRM enhancement in such areas as research, data security, and pervasive technologies that facilitate robust CRM implementations; and
  • Service providers, including Application Service Providers, Outsource Services, and Online Agencies that deliver robust One-to-one or CRM support services.
The Fund seeks to invest in early-stage, revenue generating, pre-profit companies, located in the Northeast corridor from Boston to Washington, D.C., that can demonstrate demand for their product or service and a clear path to profitability.

The fund’s professionals include:

Bruce Blasnik, Partner and CFO, Mr. Blasnik is a CPA and seasoned financial executive and has served as an advisor to growing businesses for nearly two decades. With experience at both a big 5 and major regional accounting firm, Mr. Blasnik has expertise in tax, financial reporting, business valuation, bankruptcy and M&A, as well as a wide range of general business issues.

Bob Dorf, General Partner. Mr. Dorf was President of Peppers and Rogers Group, the world's preeminent Customer Relationship Management (CRM) consulting practice. Mr. Dorf has three decades of hands-on experience in growing successful companies and forming strategic alliances between prime movers across a variety of industry sectors. An early proponent of CRM, Mr. Dorf is the co-author of The One to One Fieldbook.

Mark Ellis, Managing Partner. Mr. Ellis has extensive experience in top marketing and CEO positions at major corporations. A highly successful entrepreneur, Mr. Ellis is considered a turnaround specialist.

Our History

Our roots were drawn from The Relationship Factory, the venture-investing arm of The Peppers and Rogers Group. The rapid success of The Relationship Factory led to the creation of 1to1® Venture Partners, LLC, which is structured to focus primarily on investments in the rapidly expanding CRM space.

Financing the 1to1 revolution

Marketing 1to1 Ventures, LP is an early-stage investor, filling the gap between angel financing and later-stage investments. Our typical investment is between $500,000 and $2 million. We often make subsequent investments in order to maintain our relative equity position. We have many partners willing to co-invest if the initial capital requirements are above those levels.

1to1 Venture Partners, LLC's management team has significant operating experience. We take an active role in building our investments into successful, leading edge companies. Our approach to early-stage investing includes capital financing based on extensive analysis of opportunities combined with involvement in the shaping of the venture's business direction and operations. Our goal is to help ventures with advice and expertise in their early stages so that they may become independently successful as soon as possible.
